Disclaimer & Scope of Services
The services offered on this website are peer support services provided by a trained and certified Peer Support Worker. Peer support is a non-clinical, non-medical service grounded in shared lived experience, mutual respect, and emotional support.
Peer support is not therapy, counselling, psychiatry, psychology, social work, or medical care. The provider is not a psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, counsellor, physician, or other regulated health professional, and does not diagnose conditions, provide clinical treatment, prescribe medication, or offer medical or legal advice.
Peer support differs from clinical or therapeutic services in that it is:
Non-diagnostic and non-treatment-based
Relationship-centred and recovery-oriented
Grounded in lived experience rather than clinical authority
Focused on emotional support, self-advocacy, and empowerment
Voluntary and led by the individual receiving support
Peer support is not a substitute for professional mental health care, medical treatment, emergency services, or crisis intervention.

Peer support is voluntary and non-directive

Informed Consent
By accessing this website and engaging in peer support services, clients confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to this disclaimer, including the nature and limitations of peer support services.
Nature of the Working Relationship
The peer support services described on this website are offered on the basis of a personal working relationship, not as a commercial business selling goods, products, or guaranteed outcomes.
By engaging in peer support, clients acknowledge that they are personally retaining Matthew Harley as a peer support worker, similar to engaging a support worker, aide, or companion for their time and labour. Fees reflect compensation for time, presence, lived experience, and peer support skills, rather than the purchase of a service package or promised result.
Matthew Harley does not present himself as a clinic, agency, or commercial enterprise. Peer support is provided as individually contracted support work, undertaken by mutual agreement between the client and the peer support worker.
Clients further acknowledge that:
Peer support is a non-clinical, non-medical, and non-therapeutic form of support
The relationship is collaborative and non-hierarchical
No outcomes, improvements, or results are sold or guaranteed
The peer support worker does not assume responsibility for a client’s decisions, actions, or mental health outcomes
Engagement in peer support services constitutes acknowledgment that the client is employing the peer support worker for supportive labour, not purchasing a commercial product or treatment. Peer support is offered as independent support work arranged directly between individuals.
